about shawls & scarves

A simplification into the rectangular format of the scarves and shawls allowed me to focus entirely on weaving: color, texture, pattern and structure. The designs for these shawls and scarves were chosen from a variety of my hand color sketches and computer renderings of weave structures. Based on the designs, the chosen yarns were woven up in samples to test for the correct density, texture, structure, drape and hand for the fabric. Once this was determined, the looms were set up and the pieces handwoven. These scarves and shawls were exhibited and sold nationally through trade shows, boutiques, galleries and studio sales.
